Symptom:When you open on an excel file you receive a message that states
cannot file the file (pathway here) or one of its components. Make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available.
In Windows Vista, when you open an excel workbook, Excel does not open and you receive and error similar to the error above.
Excel may actually open, but the file will not open. If Excel is already running, a second instance of Excel may start.
Cause of IssueThis problem may occur if the Ignore other applications setting in Excel is selected.
Resolution (Microsoft Office Excel 2003 and earlier versions):1. Click Tools on the Menu bar at the top of Excel. A drop down menu will appear.
2. Click on Options at the bottom of the Tools menu. This will open the options window.
3. Click the General tab.
4. Uncheck the Ignore other applications check box
Open the workbooks now.
