Symptoms or Issue:After a restoration of a .PST file to outlook 2003, there are now two contacts showing up. The address book doesn't work properly. The default contacts has no contacts in it and the secondary has all of the contacts in it. When clicking on the Contacts menu item, it defaults to the contacts that has no contacts in it.
Problem:One of the issues that causes the outlook to behave this way is when you restore an old outlook file. The restored contacts
folder gets inserted into the new contacts folder instead of just the contacts. This then essentially makes it so that you have 2 contacts folders.
Pre-Requisites for Repair:1. Basic understanding of the Outlook Navigation.
3. Microsoft Outlook 2003.
Warning!!:Always backup your PST file prior to work with it. If you delete the wrong contacts without backing it up first you will not be able to recover those contacts. If you are not comfortable with his repair then hire a professional.

2. This article presumes that you have the outlook icon (NOT A SHORTCUT) showing either on your desktop on in your start menu.
3. There are two options for repair.
Beginner Notes:For this repair, we will be referring to the term "click". Whenever we state the term click, this will always mean a left click. If we want you to right click, we will specify a right click. If we say double click, this means two left clicks.
Techinese Repair:First OptionNotes:Second Option2. Right Click on the Outlook Icon. A menu will appear.
4. Click Email Accounts. This will bring up the email accounts window.
5. Under the Directory portion of this window, click View or Change existing directories or address books then click Next.
6. Click on Outlook Address Book and this will highlight.
9. Close the windows you are in
10. Open and then Close Outlook
11. Right Click on the Outlook Icon. A menu will appear.
13. Click Email Accounts. This will bring up the email accounts window.
14. Under the Directory portion of this window, click Add a new directory or address book then click Next.
15. Click Additional Address Books then click next
16. Select Outlook Address Book then click next
17. Click OK and then close these windows again.
18. Open Microsoft Outlook
19. Bring up the Contacts menu
20. Right click on Contacts. A menu will appear.
22. Click on the Outlook Address Book tab
23. Check the box that reads Show this folder as an email address book
This issue should now be resolved.
