Exit Animations

This tutorial explains the benefits of the exit animation and how to properly use them in a doodle. We will touch base on the difference between a scene transition and exit animation

Scene Transition vs. Exit Animation

Scene Transitions are located in the Video Settings and Exit Animations are located in the Scene Settings. There are some slight differences between the two.

Scene Transitions

These settings are the default settings for the entire doodle. The different options for scene transitions in Doodly.

  • None: This is the most flexible transition in Doodly. We have an entire DTD written about it and use it throughout our Scene Transitions and Exit Animations video tutorial.

  • Swipe Left, Right, Down, Up and mixed: The left swipe is the default transition. Mixed tells Doodly to choose the animation. This setting is not suggestion.
  • Camera Panning: This will leave a little bit of your screen showing from your previous scene as it pans from scene to scene instead of swiping. If this is selected the only options in the Scene Transitions become camera panning and none.

Exit Animations

These can be changed from the default on a scene by scene basis.

The options for these do not include the camera panning unless camera panning is chosen inn the video settings but does include an erase option.

Optimal Use

Directional Movement
When a character or prop asset is facing a certain direction or pointing up and you want that additional movement option, use the swipe transition for that direction to provide that illusion of movement on the canvas.

Languages
Some languages read right to left while others read left to right. If you only have text assets on the screen go into the direction of how the language is written on the screen.

Can we make our own transitions?

Yes, watch our Scene Transitions video tutorial from beginning until the end and it will provide more in depth information about Scene Transitions and Exit Animations and will give you ideas for more scene transitions you can make happen in Doodly.
