Troubleshooting Doodly

This documentation will help troubleshoot the most common issues that happen in Doodly. There are too many unique issues that happen in order to list everything but here are steps you can try for the most common issues before contacting support.

1. Doodly is hanging during export.

Check the audio. This is the most common reason. It may not be your reason but it is the most common. Create no more than 5 total audio timelines including the voiceover. Stagger the audio so the first audio track is on audio timeline 1, the next audio track is in its correct spot on audio timeline 2, the third is back on the first audio timeline, the forth is on the second audio timeline and so forth. Now try and export/render the video.

2. Why is Doodly so slow at rendering?

Question #42, “How do we speed up rendering times in Doodly?”, in our Top 50 Doodly F.A.Q. page will answer this question.

Now what can you do about it.
Disable non-essential item running in the background on your computer. Everything running in the background takes up memory on your computer. Doodly uses memory and CPU to render the videos. The more memory and CPU speed it is allowed to use, the faster the render times you will see.

If this is too technical for you or you do not know how to accomplish, this you can call B2B I.T. Solutions at (941) 923-6280 during the hours of Monday through Friday 9am – 5pm EDT. We perform full computer evaluations for $75.00 or free of charge if you have servicing work accomplished after the evaluation.

We will tell you, in non-technical terms exactly what needs to happen with your computer to speed it up and the rendering times with Doodly. Prices mentioned are subject to change but that price hasn’t changed in 10 years from the date of writing this documentation.

3. “My Audio won’t play” – “I cannot find…” – “This doesn’t work” – “This doesn’t exist” issues.

Uninstall Doodly and Reinstall it from https://www.doodly.com/members/

4. My scene is all of a sudden elsewhere

This is a bug inside Doodly. Right click on the scene and copy, go back to where it should be and right click and paste it. If it didn’t paste it in the correct spot, just drag it to the correct spot from there by left clicking on the scene and holding the left mouse button down and then dragging your mouse to the correct spot. You will see it highlight in the correct spot and then just left go of your mouse to drop it there.

5. My audio is out of sync from my video timeline but it was there before I closed my doodle.

It is most likely not the audio. More than likely the audio is correct and the video is the issue. Read the “My scene is all of a sudden elsewhere” troubleshooting tips because that would apply here but you’ll have to find the screwed up scene which more than likely at scene 1.

6. Help! My scenes are duplicated and triplicated.

This is a bug in Doodly. Right click and Delete the scenes 1 by 1 and hope that it doesn’t happen again but it is possible when you close out of Doodly, it will happen again especially if you used the duplicate scene function on bigger projects.

7. Why is Doodly so laggy?

Don’t create such large doodles. I know Facebook/technical support says there is no limit but there is and your computer and the suboptimal programming of the Doodly software is that limit.

Try to stick to around 10 scenes, no more than 20 and then combine everything using a video editor. Read question #5, “Where can I obtain free commercial use assets?”, in or Top 50 Doodly F.A.Q. page for suggestions on free video editors.

8. Why won’t my image show up after I browse and select it?

Look at the name of the image. Doodly does not support some special characters such as the #. Remove all special characters and try again.
